Terms of use
The short version: the tools are free, use them for yourself, they're provided as-is, and the decisions you make with the information stay yours. The longer version follows.

What this site is
Silent Packet provides free educational tools and guides about digital privacy and security. By using the site, you're agreeing to these terms. If you don't agree with them, the fix is simple and immediate: don't use the site.
Using the tools
- Check yourself, not others. The Exposure Scanner is for checking email addresses you own or have permission to check. Looking up other people's addresses isn't what it's for.
- Don't abuse the plumbing. No scraping the tools at volume, hammering the endpoints with automated requests, or using them as a free backend for your own product. They're funded by nothing and rate-limited accordingly.
- Don't submit what you wouldn't want processed. Tool inputs are processed and discarded, not stored — but the sensible habit is still to strip account numbers and other personal details out of anything you paste into the Scam Analyzer. The tools don't need them.
The guidance is educational — the judgment calls are yours
Everything here is general education about privacy and security, written with care by someone who does this work professionally. It is not legal advice, financial advice, or a guarantee about your specific situation. A tool telling you a message "looks legitimate" is an informed opinion from a pattern-matching system, not a promise — scams are designed to look legitimate, and some succeed. When money or sensitive accounts are involved, verify through a channel you already trust (the number on the back of your card, not the number in the message).
No warranty
The tools and content are provided as-is and as-available, without warranties of any kind, express or implied. Breach databases aren't complete — an all-clear result means "not in the known breaches we checked," not "you have never been breached." AI analysis can be wrong in both directions. We work to keep everything accurate and available, but we don't promise either.
Limitation of liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, Silent Packet and the person behind it are not liable for any damages arising from your use of (or inability to use) this site — including decisions made or not made based on tool results or articles. The tools inform your judgment; they don't replace it, and they can't accept liability for it.
Third-party services and links
Some tools pass your input to third-party services to do their job (detailed in the privacy policy), and articles link to outside sites we think are useful. We don't control those services or sites, and their terms and privacy practices are their own.
Content ownership
The articles, tool designs, and site content are Silent Packet's. You're welcome to share links and quote reasonable excerpts with attribution. Republishing whole articles or repackaging the tools as your own isn't allowed without permission — ask first; the answer is often yes.
Changes
These terms may change as the site grows (for example, when paid products launch — those will have their own terms). The "last updated" date above will change accordingly. Continued use after a change means acceptance of the new terms.
