Privacy policy
This policy was written by hand for this site, to describe what it actually does. If you'd rather read the friendly version first, see what we don't collect — this page is the formal backing for it.
LAST UPDATED: JULY 7, 2026
The summary
Silent Packet collects one piece of personal information — your email address, and only if you choose to join the update list. The free tools do not require an account, and what you type into them is processed to give you an answer and then discarded. We don't log tool submissions, we don't build visitor profiles, and we don't sell or share anything, because there is essentially nothing to sell.
What we collect, and when
- Email address (optional). If you sign up for updates, your address is stored by our email provider and used to send you an email when a new tool or guide ships. Nothing else is attached to it — no name, no tracking history, no tool results.
- Anonymous, aggregate visit counts. We use Cloudflare Web Analytics, which is cookie-free and does not fingerprint your browser or track you across sites. It tells us how many people visited a page, not who they were.
- Standard infrastructure logs. The site is hosted on Cloudflare. Like effectively all hosting providers, Cloudflare processes connection data (such as IP addresses) transiently to serve the site and block attacks. We do not receive or keep per-visitor logs from this.
That's the complete list. The site sets no cookies and runs no third-party trackers, ad pixels, or social media embeds.
What the tools do with what you submit
Each tool page repeats this in plain language next to the tool itself, but for the record:
- Exposure Scanner: the email address you enter is sent over an encrypted connection to our server function, forwarded to the Have I Been Pwned breach-check service, and the result is returned to your browser. We do not log or store the address or the results. Have I Been Pwned's own handling is described in its privacy policy; it is designed for exactly this kind of lookup and does not keep searched addresses.
- Scam Analyzer: the message you paste is sent over an encrypted connection to our server function and forwarded to Anthropic's Claude API for analysis. We do not log or store the message or the verdict. Anthropic's API terms for this kind of usage do not permit training on the submitted content. Practical advice regardless: strip out anything personal (account numbers, full names) before pasting — the tool doesn't need it to spot a scam.
- Hardening Generator and De-Google Planner: these run entirely in your browser. Your answers are never transmitted to us or anyone else.
Who we share data with
Nobody, beyond the processors named above doing exactly the jobs described above: our email provider (holding list signups), Cloudflare (hosting and anonymous analytics), Have I Been Pwned (breach lookups you initiate), and Anthropic (message analyses you initiate). We do not sell, rent, trade, or "share with partners" any personal information. There are no advertisers to share it with.
How long we keep things
- Tool submissions: not kept at all. Processed and discarded in the same request.
- Your email address: until you unsubscribe (every email has an unsubscribe link) or ask us to delete it.
- Aggregate analytics: kept as anonymous totals that were never tied to you in the first place.
Your choices and rights
You can use every tool on this site without giving us anything. If you joined the email list, you can unsubscribe at any time, or contact us to have your address deleted outright. Depending on where you live (GDPR in Europe, CCPA in California, and similar laws elsewhere), you may have formal rights to access, correct, or delete personal data — with one email address on file at most, exercising them is a short conversation.
Children
This site is not directed at children under 13 and we do not knowingly collect information from them — which, given that we collect almost nothing from anyone, is a low bar we comfortably clear.
Changes to this policy
If this policy changes in any way that matters — new data collected, new processor, new purpose — the "last updated" date above changes, and any change that weakens the promises here would be announced to the email list, not slipped in quietly.
